'They are': Mikel Arteta explains what Liverpool are 'really good at' ahead of Sunday's clash with Arsenal

Liverpool face their biggest test of the season so far on Sunday as they take on Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

The Reds have lost their last two Premier League visits to Arsenal as the Gunners have regenerated into a genuine force once again.

But Liverpool did go to the Emirates and win in the FA Cup last season and will be buoyed by coming into the game in superb form.

The Reds have won 11 out of 12 games under Arne Slot so far, making it the best start to a season in Liverpool history.

Another win on Sunday would extend that record and send out a real statement to the rest of the Premier League.

And ahead of the huge clash in North London, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has heaped praise on Slot and Liverpool

The Reds beat the Gunners when they met during this summer’s pre-season tour in the USA.

Arteta was complimentary about Slot even before that head-to-head and speaking in his pre-match press conference on Friday, the Spaniard was equally effusive when asked about the Liverpool head coach.

“Very good. Obviously they are in a really good moment, in a great run and you can see the touch that he [Slot] has given to a team that was already very strong but you can see his fingerprints on that team,” said the 41-year-old.

Asked what specifically he has seen about Liverpool and what makes them such dangerous opponents, Arteta said that it was a little bit of everything.

“It’s a team that for nine years has been competing at the highest level in every competition,” he said.

“So, they know how to compete, how to threaten you when the ball is really far, when the ball is in the outside unit especially. They have individual quality to damage you, they are good on set pieces.

“It’s a team that for nine years consistently has been there. That means that they are really good at everything that they do.”

What did Arteta say about injuries?
Perhaps the biggest talking point heading into Sunday’s game has been the injury issues Arsenal are facing right now.

And with none of Bukayo Saka, Riccardo Calafiori and Jurrien Timber spotted in training on Friday, Arteta was asked for an update on all three.

“We’re going to do our very best to somehow have them available, [but] it’s very, very uncertain,” he replied.

The Spanish coach went on to say that Saka had trained on grass a little, while Calafiori was awaiting test results to determine the extent of his knee issue.
