Nwaneri came off the bench to score a game sealing third against Forest and continue his excellent start to life in the first-team.
As we know, a lot has been made of Nwaneri ever since Mikel Arteta threw him in as a 15-year-old and since then, he’s got better and better.
Of course, any time a young player emerges, while exciting for the fans, it can mean a senior player finds their place in the XI under threat.
And according to Arsenal legend Emmanuel Petit, the man who should be very worried right now is Brazilian forward, Gabriel Jesus.
Gabriel Jesus told to be wary of Ethan Nwaneri’s Arsenal form
Speaking on Premier League Productions about the performance of Nwaneri off the bench, former Gunners man Petit suggested that Gabriel Jesus will now be looking over his shoulder at Nwaneri.
“It sends a bad message to Gabriel Jesus, who was on the pitch for at least an hour. After ten minutes, Nwaneri scored a goal,” Petit said.
“He is a promising young guy with a bright future, and I hope he gets more time to play.”
Last chance saloon for Gabriel Jesus?
Arsenal paid £45m for Gabriel Jesus and at the time, he did play a pivotal role in turning things around for the Gunners and setting them on the right path.
However, he was signed for goals and the fact remains that he has just not produced in that department.
