Throughout the 2024/25 campaign so far, Pep Guardiola’s side have been dealt various injury problems involving numerous figures from the City squad.
For instance, September’s 2-2 draw with Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium saw Rodri suffer a season-ending injury.
From Liverpool’s perspective ahead of Sunday’s big showdown, Arne Slot, who only took over from Jurgen Klopp in the summer, has revealed that his side have been handed a big injury boost.

Arne Slot issues Liverpool injury boost ahead of Man City clash
When asked in his latest press conference if Trent Alexander-Arnold is fit enough to start against City following a recent injury absence, Slot gave this response.
He said: “Trent is fit enough to start, yes.”
Why Alexander-Arnold could be a problem for City
During the first half of Liverpool’s 2-0 win over Aston Villa earlier this month, Alexander-Arnold was forced off the pitch with a hamstring issue.
Missing England’s two Nations League matches against Greece and Ireland as well as Liverpool’s recent league match against Southampton, the right-back was an unused substitute for their 2-0 win over Real Madrid on Wednesday night.
Despite starting 11 Premier League games this season, Alexander-Arnold has only provided one assist.
However, the Englishman still has the second-highest total of key passes (19) in the Liverpool squad.
The full-back has also won more tackles (24) than any other player at the Merseyside club in the league.
This shows how he could prove to be a problem for City in front of both goals and why having him fit enough to start again is such a boost for Liverpool.
Even though Sunday’s game is at Anfield, Alexander-Arnold hailed the Etihad Stadium atmosphere from previous meetings between City and Liverpool.
Given the importance of this upcoming match, it’d be safe to assume that whether he starts or not, the England international will likely see another electric atmosphere when the two sides meet each other on Sunday.
