Arsenal ace slammed as Premier League flop of the season after breaking early promise

Arsenal's Raheem Sterling has been labelled "one of the flops of the season" after failing to live up to his early-season promise. The 29 year old winger joined the Gunners on a season-long loan from Chelsea but has made just two starts in eight appearances, scoring only in a 5-1 Carabao Cup win over Bolton Wanderers.
Former Premier League forward Stan Collymore expressed his disappointment, stating: "Raheem Sterling has been a massive disappointment.

"He came in and said he was going to give the club his best work, but that hasn't happened. He's arguably stunk the place out so far and he's definitely one of the flops of the season having promised to do his best work at Arsenal."

Collymore also questioned Sterling's impact on the dressing room, saying: "He's an experienced player who has won everything there is to win, he was expected to push the dressing room up another level and he hasn't done that."

Additionally, Collymore was unimpressed with Arsenal's summer transfer business, including the signing of defender Riccardo Calafiori from Bologna.

Collymore has expressed his disappointment with Arsenal's £42 million deal for Calafiori, stating: "Arsenal spent £42 million on Riccardo Calafiori which has been a mildly disappointing move so far. He's had a couple of injuries, but he was meant to come in and be the man."

Collymore also criticised the decision to sell academy graduate Emile Smith Rowe to Fulham, believing he would have been an ideal replacement during captain Martin Odegaard's lengthy injury absence.

Despite Collymore's criticism of Arsenal's summer dealings, it seems the North London club is forging ahead with its January transfer plans. Spanish reports suggest that the Gunners have approached Real Madrid about a potential deal for playmaker Arda Guler.
