The Gunners have monitored Kudus for some time and held an interest in him before he moved to West Ham in August 2023 for £36 million from Ajax. However, his price has now increased significantly after a good spell at the London Stadium. According to the Sun, Arsenal have eyed up Kudus for a possible transfer should Trossard leave.
Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad tried to land Trossard in the summer on a late loan deal, so they are looking at a £40m deal for the Belgian international following their failure to seal the short-term deal. He has just 18 months left on his contract at the Emirates, meaning that Arsenal could cash in on the 29-year-old whilst they can.
The Belgian has made ten Premier League appearances so far this season, scoring two goals for Mikel Arteta’s side. Whereas Mohammed Kudus has also scored twice for West Ham in eight Premier League appearances in the season thus far.
Kudus subject to suspension controversy
Despite Arsenal’s interest in the West Ham winger, Kudus has been subject to controversy in recent weeks due to his actions during the Hammers’ 4-1 defeat at Tottenham Hotspur two weeks ago.
The Ghanaian was seen to swipe for Spurs defender Micky van de Ven which resulted in a sending-off for Kudus who was suspended in both the Hammers’ games against Manchester United and this past weekend against Nottingham Forest.
His current three-game ban could be extended to a six-game ban as the FA remains to be looking into his suspension amid the possibility that they could extend it should they feel that more action is necessary to punish Kudus for his actions against Spurs.
Arsenal title rivals could challenge Gunners to Kudus’ signature
Arsenal may face competition to sign the West Ham star should they go in for his signature as Liverpool were linked over a move for Kudus in the summer as they view him as a possible Mohammed Salah replacement should the Egyptian leave Anfield in the summer.
The Reds decided against signing Kudus in summer who had an £85 million release clause during the transfer window, however, it doesn’t apply anymore, but West Ham are expected to set a £90m price tag for the winger who is under contract at the London Stadium until June 2028 with an option to extend his deal a further year
