Arsenal are reportedly interested and ready to line up a move for West Ham United winger Mohammed Kudus, who said to be keen on playing European football which as things stand, the Hammers won’t be able to offer him next season.
He is under contract at the London Stadium until June 2028, but the Gunners could plan a move for him in the summer according to Spanish media outlet Fichajes who report that Arsenal are ready to spend up to £83m on the player as they look to strengthen in attack.
The Ghanaian joined from Ajax in 2023 and has since established himself as one of the to[ wingers in the Premier League, making 41 appearances, scoring 10 goals and six assists for the Hammers. The 24-year-old cost West Ham over £35 million which means they could make a healthy profit on Kudus if he was to move to the Emirates for a fee close to £83m - his reported valuation for the Gunners to meet.
Kudus could line up alongside star winger Bukayo Saka or take some heat off the England international who missed time recently due to an injury that he suffered during the October international break. Arsenal were recently linked with Kudus amid reports that Leandro Trossard could leave to play in the Saudi Pro League.
Arsenal face Premier League competition for Kudus
The Gunners aren’t the only Premier League team that could line up a bid for the West Ham star as both Liverpool and Chelsea have previously been linked to the winger last summer and previously when he was at Ajax.
Arne Slot’s Liverpool has been considered a possible destination for Kudus due to the current uncertainty over Mohamed Salah’s contract situation as there is no indication as to whether Salah will remain at Anfield, but if he is to leave, then Kudus could be seen as a long-term replacement for the Egyptian talisman.
Furthermore, Chelsea were linked to Ajax in the summer of 2023 when West Ham initially signed Kudus from the Eredivisie side. According to Football London, then Blues boss Mauricio Pochettino enquired about bringing the 24-year-old to Stamford Bridge, but no move was ever made for Kudus.
Mohammed Kudus’ ban extended due to actions against Spurs
The West Ham winger is currently on the sidelines as he was banned for swiping at Tottenham defender Micky Van de Ven during the two teams’ meeting when Spurs won 4-1 in October.
He was initially given a three-match ban after he was sent off during the Hammers’ defeat at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. He initially scored West Ham’s opening goal, but things went very wrong for Kudus after he hit out at the Tottenham defender and was quickly dismissed by referee Andy Madley.
However, the FA have extended Kudus’ ban to a five-match absence which will keep him out until they play Leicester City at the start of December. He was also fined £60,000 for his action
