Domestic football returns this weekend with a round of Premier League fixtures following a two-week hiatus for international fixtures. Mikel Arteta's men host high-flyers Nottingham Forest on Saturday and are searching for their first league win since the beginning of October.
Pressure is mounting as they remain nine points behind leaders Liverpool - a margin that is already looking difficult to claw back. Arne Slot's men are suffering a bit of an injury crisis at the moment though and have a tough run of games ahead.
They take on Real Madrid in Europe next week before a mammoth clash against Manchester City and trips to Newcastle and rivals Everton. Liverpool will be without Jota and Allison for the clash against Los Blancos and Trent is also a doubt too.
Liverpool's right-back is one of three stars in the last year of their contract at Anfield and has been strongly linked with a move to the Spanish capital next summer. His involvement on Wednesday could have overshadowed the fixture, which Slot will be keen to avoid.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of Saturday's game against Southampton, Slot said: "For next week? We'll have to wait and see because the last week is always tricky because it's isolated to group sessions so it is difficult to judge.
"So I cannot say it will one or two or three days. Alisson and Jota I don't expect them to be fit for that game [Real], Trent we will see."
The news will come as a boost to Arsenal who will need to rely on Liverpool dropping points if they are to make up lost ground. The Gunners can't be ruled out of the title race just yet, but their chances will fade if they drop any further behind.
