Arsenal star Thomas Partey axed from Ghana squad 'to improve team's discipline'

Arsenal's Thomas Partey was shockingly dropped by Ghana in a bid to enhance the national team's discipline, according to reports. The surprising decision to exclude the Gunners star from his squad was made earlier this week by Boss Otto Addo, who later attributed 'internal issues' as the reason for his decision.

However, insiders close to the Ghanaian national team have told the Mirror that Addo was irked by Partey's choice to pull out of last month's two crucial Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Sudan, which ended in a 0-0 draw and a 2-0 loss.

Despite being ill, Partey chose to remain in London, even though Ghana wanted him to join the camp for further assessment.

The 31 year old was then deemed fully fit to play in Arsenal's 2-0 defeat at Bournemouth immediately after the international break - just days after the disappointing loss in Sudan - which personally frustrated Addo.

He has since spoken with the midfielder, who he planned to name captain for the upcoming AFCON qualifiers against Angola and Niger, to clear the air and insists the issue has been resolved.
