Bernardo Cueva’s reaction to Chelsea’s first set piece
One of Arsenal's strengths this season has been their set pieces, particularly their overloads at the far post. Chelsea had clearly worked on this and were ready when Arsenal earned their first set piece. The moment was tense, with the referee needing to intervene as players tugged at each other. By the time the ball came in, Chelsea were well-organised and just about managed to clear their lines, despite Arsenal getting the first touch on the delivery. Notably, Chelsea's set-piece manager took note of a brief moment when goalkeeper Robert Sánchez collided with an Arsenal player during a break in play and gave him a thumps up.
Fofana’s Attempt to disrupt Raya
Another interesting moment came when Chelsea earned their first set piece. The Blues had clearly worked on their positioning and were eager to make an impression. Cueva was vocal in directing Malo Gusto, who was in the team partly for his athleticism and ability to cover space and break up counterattacks. Reece James, still recovering from injury, was replaced by Gusto for this game. During a set piece, central defender Wesley Fofana spent some time trying to disrupt Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya as he organised his backline. In the end, Cole Palmer took the set piece, but it didn’t beat the first man.
Enzo Fernandez leading from the bench
While Enzo Fernández played a key role in the build-up to Pedro Neto's goal, he was equally brilliant from the bench. In the first half, Neto showed incredible skill to beat his man and deliver a brilliant cross that Gusto narrowly missed. Fernandez was the first to cheer Neto on from the sideline, applauding the effort and encouraging him. Though a small gesture, it likely boosted Neto's confidence, and he later went on to score the equaliser.

Enzo Maresca and Mikel Arteta’s mutual respect
It’s not often that we see managers not react when decisions don’t go their way, but in this game, both Enzo Maresca and Mikel Arteta displayed a lot of respect for each other. Even when they were upset with the referee's decisions, they chose to communicate through the fourth official rather than engage in a direct confrontation. It’s worth noting that both Maresca and Arteta previously worked under Pep Guardiola, which likely explains the mutual respect between them.
Romeo Lavia looks to be in trouble
While much of the attention focused on Noni Madueke, who headed straight for the tunnel after being substituted, it was Romeo Lavia who appeared to be in more discomfort. Lavia was replaced by Enzo Fernandez, and after the substitution, he headed straight to the tunnel. There was noticeable concern, as Lavia had been struggling before the change. The medical team will likely monitor his condition during the international break.
