Gabriel returns, 7 big changes | Expected Arsenal line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Newcastle with Nwaneri decision made

Arsenal travel to St James’ Park for Saturday’s Premier League clash against Newcastle United.

The Gunners have picked up just one point in their last two league games. They are now five points behind leaders Manchester City.

Hence, the upcoming game against the Magpies is basically a must-win to avoid losing further ground in the pursuit of the league title.

Ahead of the game, manager Mikel Arteta has received a huge boost with Gabriel Magalhaes travelling with the squad after his injury scare.

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Predicted Line-up:

David Raya is expected to return between the sticks after getting a breather against Preston North End where Tommy Setford made his Gunners debut.

In the backline, we anticipate two changes from the Carabao Cup fourth round win at Deepdale.

Thomas Partey should occupy the right-back role with Ben White doubtful with a knee problem.

William Saliba is set to be partnered by Gabriel in the heart of the defence with Jurrien Timber occupying the left-back position.

Jakub Kiwior and Oleksandr Zinchenko are expected to drop to the bench.

In midfield, Jorginho should make way for Declan Rice to accompany Mikel Merino.

Rice played in his natural number six position against Liverpool last weekend and he produced his best performance of the campaign with an assist.

Further forward, there could be three changes with Gabriel Jesus, Raheem Sterling and Ethan Nwaneri dropping to the bench.

Nwaneri was brilliant against Preston on the road where he scored a stunning long-range goal.

The youngster also hit the woodwork and missed one big chance. He could have scored a hat-trick.

Despite this, the manager could prefer the experience of Leandro Trossard from the number 10 role.

Bukayo Saka should be a nailed-on starter from the right wing ahead of Sterling with Kai Havertz leading the attack in place of Jesus.

Gabriel Martinelli looked lively on the left wing in midweek, but he needs to step up with more goal contributions in future.
