Rice may be a top-class defensive midfield player, but he has so much more about his game than just that.
Rice’s pace is also an underestimated aspect of his game, but that is something that the midfielder clearly wants to work on.
Rice isn’t necessarily the fastest player at Arsenal, and when speaking to the club’s media team, he’s stated that he wishes he was as fast as Gabriel Martinelli.
Indeed, Rice was asked which attribute of one of his teammates he’d most like to pinch, and he said that he would take Martinelli’s pace.

Rice and a number of his teammates were asked which attribute they’d most like to pinch from their peers.
Rice stated that he wishes he was as fast as Martinelli, while there were also some other interesting answers.

Imagining a player as physically dominant as Rice blessed with the pace of a player like Martinelli is certainly a frightening idea.
Who is the fastest player at Arsenal?
Rice says that he wants Martinelli’s pace, but, interestingly, the winger isn’t actually the quickest player at Arsenal.
Indeed, according to some data recently shared by StatsSports in a YouTube video, Ben White is actually the fastest player at the club.
Of course, White isn’t as explosive as a player like Martinelli, but his top speed is greater than the Brazilian’s.
Martinelli has that incredible ability to go from zero to 100 in a matter of seconds, and while White doesn’t have that same level of acceleration, once he gets going, he is the fastest player at Arsenal.
The £6m man is absolutely rapid, but, surprisingly, White is the quickest player at Arsenal.
