'I've heard whispers about a move to Arsenal' - Transfer Guru drops Newcastle player verdict

Alexander Isak could push to leave Newcastle United amid growing concerns about the club’s ambitions on and off the pitch.
This is according to former Man United, Sunderland and Aston Villa scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that the striker has grown “fed up” with a perceived lack of ambition at St James’ Park.

Reports, meanwhile, have claimed the striker’s camp has delayed talks over a new contract amid concerns about the direction the club is heading.

Brown claimed he has heard “whispers” about a potential move to Arsenal, while multiple top clubs are keeping an eye on the developing situation.

Isak’s current contract at Newcastle is set to run until 2028, meaning the club still hold the cards over his future and are expected to demand a significant fee for his exit

However, he is said to be looking for them to show ambition in the transfer market and to push for European football after missing out last season.

The Magpies currently sit tenth in the Premier League table, with four wins, three draws and three defeats from their opening ten games.

A 1-0 win against Arsenal at the weekend has raised the positive mood at St James’ Park, but Brown has insisted they will need to match the striker’s ambitions of playing Champions League football to convince him to stay for the long-term future.

“He’d be an asset to any club in Europe,” he told Football Insider.

“I’ve heard whispers speaking about a potential move to Arsenal and that wouldn’t shock me.

“There are a few of the top clubs who have been keeping an eye on his situation.

“I think he’s getting a bit fed up at Newcastle and was expecting them to show a bit more ambition in the transfer window and with their results.

“He might feel next summer is a good time for him to move on.

“That’s the way things are now, particularly if they don’t qualify for Champions League football.

“They want to tie him down to a new contract, but I wouldn’t expect him to commit unless the club can prove they’ll match his ambitions.

“Wayne Rooney did it at Man United. He said if they weren’t going to buy players and show some ambition, he’d leave.
