Liverpool receive Trent Alexander-Arnold injury boost

The right back left the field after 25 minutes of the Reds' 2-1 win at Anfield on Saturday night, sparking concern for the Premier League leaders.

He was replaced by Connor Bradley, but headed straight down the tunnel for treatment having been withdrawn following a conversation with manager Arne Slot.

He had picked up a hamstring issue, with it unclear how long he will be out for and Liverpool still awaiting the results of scans going into the international break.

According to The Atheltic, however, they are hopeful that the issue isn't serious and that the substitution limited any damage to the muscle.

Alexander-Arnold has been named in Lee Carsley's final England squad for games against Greece and Ireland this month, but could withdraw due to the injury.

Liverpool aren't in action again until November 24, when they will take on Southampton at St Mary's.

Alexander-Arnold has started every League and Champions League game this campaign for the Reds, which could be his last for the club.

He, alongside Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk, is in the final year of his deal at Anfield, and can talk to overseas clubs from January. He has been linked with a move to Real Madrid.

Slot will be eager to have Alexander-Arnold available for the Champions League game at home to Madrid on November 27 and the huge Premier League encounter at against Manchester City on December 1.

He said of his vice-captain after full time on Saturday: 'It is difficult to say how serious it is but it is always serious if a player goes out in the first half.

'Not because I didn't like him but he asked for it himself, he asked for it because he felt something. So that is first of all not a good sign.

'It is always difficult so close after the game to tell you exactly what it is but let's wait and see. I would be surprised if we will see him playing for the England national team this week but hopefully he can.'

Liverpool are top of the Premier League, with Slot winning 15 of his first 17 games in charge after taking over from Jurgen Klopp in the summer.

They are also top of the Champions League table, having won all four of their matches in the competition so far this summer - the only team to have done so.
