Liverpool without four first-team stars for Brighton match after new Arne Slot update

Liverpool will look to continue their excellent Premier League form when they host Brighton & Hove Albion at Anfield today. It'll be the second time in four days the Reds have faced off against Fabian Hurzeler's men, having triumphed 3-2 in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday evening.

And while Arne Slot will no doubt make a number of changes to the team that beat the Seagulls on Wednesday, he'll also have several major injury problems to contend with.

That's nothing new, of course, as Liverpool have quietly had to manage without several major players in recent weeks, in what has been a testing period for Slot's men.

The Liverpool manager has sought not to make a huge deal out of those missing and instead has harnessed his squad to maintain the Reds' good form and navigate games with the likes of Arsenal, Leipzig and Brighton in the past week.

And he'll have to continue without his first choice goalkeeper Alisson Becker, who isn't expected to return until after the November international break.

The same prognosis was set out for both Diogo Jota and Federico Chiesa. Jota remains sidelined with an upper-body injury sustained during the win over Chelsea at Anfield after he was dragged to the turf by Tosin Adarabioyo in the first half of the match.

Chiesa has struggled with fitness issues in the past month after making his full debut in the 5-1 League Cup win over West Ham at Anfield, with Slot revealing that the Italian is taking some time to get up to speed with Liverpool's training programme.

Harvey Elliott is back out running but has yet to return to full Liverpool training since breaking a foot while on England under-21s duty during the September internationals. The young midfielder will hope to progress throughout the November break and return to contention afterwards.
