Newcastle give Arsenal green light to sign Alexander Isak in 2025 after talks

Arsenal's hopes of finally bringing Alexander Isak to the club have been handed a significant boost following reports of difficulties over his contract extension at Newcastle.

Isak has been on the Gunners' radar for some time, dating back to his times at Real Sociedad. The Sweden international moved to the Premier League in 2022, costing Newcastle £63million.
After scoring 44 times for Sociedad, Isak has continued to consistently find the back of the net for the Magpies. He has netted 40 times in 78 games, including four in his last four games.

Isak had been set to follow Bruno Guimaraes and Anthony Gordon in committing their futures to Newcastle in an attempt to fend off interest from elsewhere. However, reports from TBR Football have suggested that may no longer be the case.

The report states that talks over a new contract at St. James' Park have taken a fresh twist with Isak's entourage have been left 'shocked' by Newcastle's stance. It's claimed that a number of hurdles have emerged, including a proposed release clause in the contract.

Fortunately for Eddie Howe's side, Isak is contracted on Tyneside until 2028. However, failure to sign a new deal is likely to leave interested clubs on red alert. Arsenal remain desperate for a new centre-forward but Mikel Arteta's men are not alone.

Alongside the update on Isak's contract situation, TBR Football also claimed that Liverpool and Manchester City have entered the race. Chelsea are also thought to be long-term admirers with Barcelona and Juventus also keeping tabs.
