Report: 'Wonderful' Liverpool player is really not happy with his role under Arne Slot and could push to leave

Liverpool have been riding a wave of positivity during the early parts of this season.

Having dealt with all of the emotion of losing Jurgen Klopp over the summer, the Reds have swung back in spectacular fashion.

With the final international break of 2024 now in full effect, Liverpool sit top of all before them.

After 17 games, the signs are there that Arne Slot could be about to take the Reds on a very special season indeed.

However, it seems as though not everyone is happy with the direction things have taken under Slot at Anfield.

Having barely featured under the Liverpool head coach so far, it has now been claimed that Federico Chiesa is starting to agitate.

Federico Chiesa unhappy with Liverpool situation
Chiesa has had an incredibly frustrating start to life at Liverpool. Having made only three appearances to date, the 27-year-old has not featured since September the 25th.

Chiesa is expected back after the international break but is set to have missed two full months of action.

As a result, there have already been suggestions from Italy that Liverpool could look to loan Chiesa back to Serie A in January.

Italian outlet Inter Live have pushed back on that, claiming that the Reds are not currently planning to return the forward to his homeland.

However, they report that Chiesa himself could now start to demand that outcome. The Italy international is said to be ‘not happy’ with the way things have panned out for him at Liverpool and will push to leave in the New Year if it continues.

Furthermore, Chiesa’s agent is claimed to have already spoken to both Inter Milan and Roma about the possibility of taking Chiesa on a six-month loan.

Both clubs are reportedly not in a position to buy Liverpool’s No.14 permanently, but would instead try to hammer out a loan with obligation to buy option for the summer.

What is wrong with Federico Chiesa?
During the early part of his Liverpool reign, Slot has shown an unwillingness to discuss injuries in too much detail.

The 46-year-old has often been asked to name the nature of fitness problems by reporters, but has instead preferred to keep things under wraps.

While this is admirable in terms of protecting the privacy of players, it does not help anyone on the outside get a clear picture of what is going on.

In terms of Chiesa, it has been speculated by supporters that the winger is not actually injured at all, but is simply being brought up to speed behind closed doors having missed pre-season.

If that is the case then it’s hard to see why Chiesa himself would be disappointed or unhappy. He will surely play a much bigger part once he eventually does return.

Alisson Becker hailed Chiesa as a ‘wonderful’ player after seeing him in training and although we’re yet to see much evidence of that, there’s no need to throw the baby out with the bath water here.
