The 5 players who could miss Inter Milan v Arsenal as Gunners prepare for key Champions League clash

Inter started their campaign with an impressive 0-0 draw at Manchester City before a 4-0 home win over Red Star Belgrade and a 1-0 victory away from home against Young Boys. Arsenal and Inter are two of seven sides who have picked up seven points to start the Champions League campaign, with Liverpool and Aston Villa the only two teams with nine points and a 100 per cent record.
Arsenal lost 1-0 to Newcastle United on Saturday afternoon as Alexander Isak scored the only goal at St James’ Park as he produced a fine header from Anthony Gordon’s impressive cross. Meanwhile, Inter moved within a point of Serie A leaders Napoli on Sunday as they beat 18th-placed Venezia thanks to Lautaro Martinez’s second-half goal.

The Gunners have more injury concerns than Inter heading into the game as Hakan Çalhanoğlu made his return from injury for the Italian outfit on Sunday, coming off the bench for the remaining 20 minutes. He had missed the club’s last two Serie A games with an abductor problem.

Arsenal injury latest
Influential midfielder Martin Odegaard is stepping up his recovery from injury but the trip to Inter may come too soon for the Norwegian international. Odegaard has been out since picking up an ankle injury on international duty in September but some reports have claimed he could feature on Wednesday night.

Speaking ahead of their trip to Newcastle, Arteta said of the midfielder on Friday: "Now is the stage he is going to start doing certain work with us and just see how he deals with pain, if he is moving naturally enough and if he is physically at the level required to compete. But with the work rate and the hours he has put in, I would be surprised if the moment he starts training with us we don’t say he is ready so hopefully soon."

Takehiro Tomiyasu (knee), Kieran Tierney (hamstring) and Riccardo Calafiori (knee) and are all set to remain on the sidelines. Ben White and Gabriel Magalhaes had been minor doubts to feature against Newcastle but both men played a part in the north east.

Arsenal outs: Tomiyasu, Tierney, Calafiori. Arsenal doubts: Odegaard

Inter Milan injury latest
Inter were dealt an injury scare over the weekend as Alessandro Bastoni was forced off with 20 minutes remaining in their latest Serie A clash. However, Sempre Inter have reported the player was dealing with cramp and will be back to face the Gunners.

As mentioned above, Çalhanoğlu is back which leaves the hosts without just one player. Carlos Augusto has been out with a hamstring problem and is not expected back until the other side of the international break. Arsenal’s game with Inter kicks off at 8pm on Wednesday night.

Inter outs: Augusto. Inter doubts: None.
