Transfer Guru: Liverpool and Chelsea race to sign Bournemouth 20-yr-old

Liverpool and Chelsea have joined the race to sign Bournemouth star Milos Kerkez after his impressive performances this season.

That is according to former Man United and Blackburn Rovers chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that a host of top clubs are plotting moves for the defender.

Kerkez, 20, has stood out as one of the Cherries’ top performers under Andoni Iraola and has been continuously linked with a move away.

He has featured 43 times since his move to the Vitality in 2023, including starts in all ten of their Premier League games so far this season.

The level of consistency in his game at such a young age, as well as his talent both defensively and going forward, has made him a top target for a number of clubs.

However, Brown has warned that any potential deal will come at a premium price as Bournemouth are reluctant to see him leave – particularly mid-way through the season.

With sides like Man United, Liverpool and Chelsea interested, there is plenty of focus on his performances and scouts are keeping a close eye on his development.

Brown, who spent over a decade at United during their most successful period and has a wealth of scouting experience at the top level, insisted clubs will continue to keep close tabs on the left-back’s performances over the course of the season.

“Clubs are definitely interested in him,” he told Football Insider.

“Chelsea were interested in him last season and that hasn’t gone away, and I’ve heard Liverpool have been keeping an eye on his development too.

“He’s been important to the way Bournemouth have played and has been really impressive.

“So it doesn’t come as any surprise that some of the top clubs are having a look at him.

“But Bournemouth won’t be quite so keen to see him leave.

“He’ll come at a premium because of that, and there also seems to be a shortage of top-class left-backs in the game so that ups his price again.

“But that interest is genuine and he’s one I’ve heard has attracted a lot of admirers.

“Whether a deal can be reached in January, I’m not sure, but Bournemouth won’t want to lose him mid-way through a season when he’s so important to them.”
