Arsenal owner on improving the club:Arsenal in Alexander Isak boost as club close to appointing Edu successor with 'excellent' links to Toon ace

Arsenal are still searching for a replacement for the outgoing Edu Gaspar but they could be closer to landing their new man and with it, boosting their chances of signing Alexander Isak.

The Gunners have known for a while they’ll need to replace Edu, who has left the club after some sterling work alongside Mikel Arteta.
Edu was uncomfortable behind the scenes at Arsenal and ultimately, ended up moving on from his role at the club.

However, while Arsenal fans have been left wondering who might replace the Brazilian, it looks like things may be moving in a positive direction in terms of that replacement.

And with it, a potential move for Alexander Isak could be on the cards.

Arsenal could appoint Roberto Olabe in boost for Alexander Isak hopes
Taking to X to provide the update on Arsenal and Olabe tonight, Sky Sports Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg has said that Olabe is definitely on the list for the Gunners.

Who is potential Edu replacement Roberto Olabe?
57-year-old Spaniard Roberto Olabe is a former Spanish footballer who played as a goalkeeper in a career spanning around a decade.

Olabe played for the likes of Salamanca and Alaves, before ending his career with Real Sociedad.

Indeed, it is with Sociedad that he has made his name in the aftermath of his playing career.

Olabe is credited with rebuilding the Spanish side in recent times and has been influential in a number of signings since taking the Sporting Director job in 2018.

Notably, Olabe played a key role in getting Alexander Isak signed, while the likes of Martin Zubimendi and Mikel Merino have flourished under his stewardship.

Arsenal, then, might be playing a bigger game than simply replacing Edu by moving for Olabe.
