The forward again showed his class as he scored direct from a corner to help the Molineux outfit to a Boxing Day victory over the Red Devils. It was only their fourth win of the season and their second in as many games under their new manager.
Cunha, who moved to Wolves from Atletico Madrid, has been their leading light and a move to one of the Premier League's major forces has been touted. Mirror Football understands, though, that Wolves have no intention of parting with their star man in January - unless the transfer fee is one they’re simply unable to turn down.
Pereira himself, who is new in the building, has underlined the need to keep player like the Brazilian, who has once again hit double figures for goals.
He told Amazon Prime: "In my opinion he’s a player who can reach high standards in this league." Pressed on whether Cunha may make the step up at another club, Pereira added: "I hope not, I hope not because we need him."
Arsenal chose not to pursue a new striker back in the summer and the lack of a natural goalscorer has been evident at times this season, especially from open play. New Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim, meanwhile, is looking to add to the squad he's inherited, but funds are thought to be at a premium.
Jorgen Strand Larsen, who is on loan at Wolves from Spanish side Celta Vigo, has also stressed the importance of keeping Cunha at the club.
Vitor Pereira is determined to retain his star man
He said: "I tell him during the game like how good he is every time because he needs to hear that. He’s an amazing player, I think one of the best I’ve ever played with. He’s just so good, hopefully we can keep hold of him for a long time.
"He has the confidence, I like to build people up, we have a good feeling, I have a good relationship with him, I’m more of a big man with the ball on my chest, and he’s the Brazilian magic. Amazing guy, amazing football player."
