But it was Steven Gerrard who caught Elliott’s eye in particular, revealing on Sky Sports that he based his game around the Liverpool legend from a young age.


“The link-up between [Steven] Gerrard and [Fernando] Torres back in the day for me was just exciting to watch. For me, it was entertaining. It was either one or the other.”

“Kids want to either strikers, scoring all the goals or assisting, I decided to try and base it around the assister, which was Gerrard.”

Elliott claimed that he tries to replicate the passion that Steven Gerrard played with during his unforgettable spell in a Liverpool shirt.

“Just his all-round game was unbelievable, he had every attribute, you could see how much it meant for him, playing for Liverpool and I always try and bring that with me.”
