As things stand, the Reds are going to have to find a replacement for Mohamed Salah, who’s contract is due to end next summer.
In the meantime, there have also been claims that Liverpool could try and replace Darwin Nunez after it became clear that the Uruguayan may never make the grade at Anfield.
But while the Reds are rumoured to be looking at players such as Omar Marmoush and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, perhaps they would do well to keep in mind what is going on with Marcus Rashford at Manchester United.
Rashford spoke publicly on Tuesday to confirm that he would be open to a sensational move away from Old Trafford in 2025.
Although there would clearly be barriers to overcome, maybe Rashford could be just what Arne Slot needs in the Liverpool squad? Here’s what has been said about the potential of one of the most surprise moves in Premier League history going through.

Liverpool held Marcus Rashford interest in 2022
Despite all of the noise that constantly seems to surround Rashford, there is still a very good player in there.
Liverpool clearly recognise this and back in March 2022, with doubt once again surrounding his United future, there were reports that Liverpool were keen on Rashford.

It was claimed that the Reds had ‘made it known’ to the 27-year-old that should he fancy leaving Old Trafford, there would be a landing spot for him at Anfield.
These interesting claims appear to go back even further as well.
In February 2020, with Michael Edwards very much running transfer dealings at Liverpool, there were suggestions that the Reds recruitment team were big admirers of Rashford.
With Edwards now back in place and taking on a bigger role at Anfield, maybe he’ll just get the sense that the time could be right for a swoop?
What’s the situation with Rashford?
Of course, when suitors start to line up for Rashford, Liverpool will know that they are at the very bottom of the pile.
No matter what’s going on between Rashford and United, he surely would not sully everything that came before with a move to their greatest rivals.

Nevertheless, Rashford has spoken of his admiration for Anfield in the past, and perhaps if he sees that bridges have already been burned at his boyhood club he will have no problem ensuring that they can never be rebuilt.
Certainly, he seems to have no future under Ruben Amorim. As per journalist Fabrizio Romano, the new United manager has admitted that Rashford needs a new challenge in football.
Though that is likely to mean a move away, it remains desperately improbable that Liverpool will get involved. But as they clearly have a historical liking for the England international, maybe they will see this as the ultimate opportunistic move.
