Liverpool transfer stance outlined as forward offered January lifeline

Liverpool will only enter the January transfer market if the right player becomes available, with a new left-back only coming in if a senior player leaves the club in the next month. Arne Slot had a quiet first transfer window at the club, and it seems it could be the same in the winter window.

The Athletic report that concentration is more on the summer window. The form of Ryan Gravenberch in midfield, means that the need to add to that position in the winter window.

Left-back is also highlighted as an area that could be strengthened, but the options available mean that could also wait until the summer.

Elsewhere, reports in Italy claim that Serie A leaders Atalanta are showing an interest in Liverpool’s Federico Chiesa. TuttoAtalanta claim that the Italian side are looking into a possible loan deal until the end of the season.

The report however adds that the player’s salary would be too high for Atalanta, but an agreement could be reached with Liverpool over them possibly paying a percentage of his wage. It is said that there is currently no real negotiations ongoing, with Atlanta only asking the initial question.

Chiesa was an unused substitute for Liverpool in the 3-1 Premier League win over Leicester City on Thursday night. He is struggling for game time so far this season, with his only league appearance coming as an 18 minute cameo in a 3-0 win over Bournemouth back in September.

He could look to go out on a temporary deal to increase his game time and find his form. Chiesa joined the Reds from Juventus at the end of the summer transfer window.
