TRANSFER UPDATE:Arsenal planning to make an audacious move to sign £41m star in a bargain deal

Arsenal are reportedly willing to sign Bayern Munich defender Alphonso Davies, as per The Athletic.
The Gunners decided to strengthen the left-back position by signing Oleksandr Zinchenko from Manchester City back in 2022. The Ukrainian started his life at the Emirates Stadium promisingly and even helped his side mount a title charge in the last two consecutive seasons. But, Mikel Arteta’s side were pipped to the post by Man City on both occasions.

The 27-year-old is a technically gifted player but lacks the defensive efficiency to play at the highest level. Therefore, Arteta decided to strengthen the left-back position by signing Riccardo Calafiori last summer.

The Italian has showcased glimpses of his qualities in the Premier League and even scored a brilliant goal against the Citizens earlier this season. But, he has been struggling to stay fit in recent times.

Therefore, perhaps, Arsenal are planning to add a new top-class left-sided defender next year and The Athletic state that the North London club are interested in Davies.

Davies to Arsenal
The Canadian’s future has been a subject of speculation in recent times as his existing deal will expire at the end of this season. If he doesn’t sign an extension with the Bavarian club before next month then he will be able to agree on a pre-contract deal with foreign clubs in the winter window. However, Bayern Munich are said to be keen on keeping hold of him by tying him down to a fresh term

It has widely been suggested that Real Madrid are favourites to hire him if he were to leave the Allianz Arena. But, Manchester United and Liverpool have also been mentioned as potential suitors for him. Now, Arsenal have registered their interest in signing him as well.

Davies is valued at around 41m by Transfermarkt and is still just 24. He is considered one of the best left-backs in the world so signing a player of his qualities without paying any transfer fee would be a great piece of business for the North London club if they manage to pull it off.

However, it is going to be interesting to see whether Arsenal can eventually manage to secure his service if he leaves Bayern Munich at the end of this season.
