'Worst passing in football' - Jamie Carragher not impressed with what Arsenal star did against Crystal Palace

Arsenal found themselves in a tricky situation on Saturday, during their 5-1 away win over Crystal Palace, with the Gunners losing the ball after Raya played a pass into Thomas Partey. That annoyed the onlooking Carragher, who criticised the approach on Sky Sports when analysing the incident.
"This is the worst passing football - playing a straight pass as a goalkeeper,” he said. “The amount of goals you see conceded in the Premier League like this. It has to stop. Goalkeepers should be banned from playing straight balls. They should be played out wide."

Arteta was concerned by some of Arsenal´s defending at full-time, and he admitted Raya was put in some awkward positions. He said: “Yeah, because they were more aggressive than in the first game which we expected, but we didn’t understand whether or not which sequences we had to put and the spaces that we needed to create. So, we ended up playing too much with David very close his own goal and against them it’s a really bad game to play, and we adjusted a few things. When Rice came on, he changed the game, he gave us more dominance, still the same threat but we were much better.”

Asked about whether he is happy to concede chances to score so many goals, Arteta added: “I like to be dominant in the right areas, I don’t like to concede much. We’ve conceded nothing in the four games, today we conceded more especially because we have given two big chances. It’s always the balance that we want and when you win, everything is okay.”
