£55m striker Arsenal want to sign more than Alexander Isak may 'suddenly' become available now – journalist

There’s just over a week to go in the January transfer window, and Arsenal are still looking for a new striker.

Arsenal tried for Dusan Vlahovic earlier this month, while Evan Ferguson has been linked to Arsenal too, but, as of yet, there’s been no concrete movement on this front.

Alexander Isak is Arsenal’s dream target according to David Ornstein, but according to John Cross, there’s another striker Arsenal would rather sign.

Indeed, speaking to The Mirror, Cross says that Benjamin Sesko is actually Arsenal’s number one target.

Arsenal have made contact over Sesko recently, and he appears to be their number one target.

Benjamin Sesko is Arsenal’s top target
Cross spoke about Arsenal’s January transfer plans.

The journalist says that Sesko is Arsenal’s number one striker target, while he also claimed that Arsenal need a new explosive winger.

“They need two players in my view, they need a centre-forward and their number one in my view is Sesko. So can they bring Sesko forward to January? And then I think they need someone who is perhaps more a bit explosive, a bit creative and a bit different,” Cross said.

Benjamin Sesko could become available
In addition to Cross’ comments, Mark Ogden shared an update on Sesko on the Sky Sports Transfer Talk Podcast.

According to the journalist, the £55m man could indeed become available in the final week of the transfer window as RB Leipzig are now out of the Champions League and that may mean they need to do some business.

Leipzig’s Champions League elimination may leave them vulnerable in the market, and that could allow Sesko to make a move.

“Just to that point, guys, sorry, just to that point about the Champions League. So RB Leipzig are going to get knocked out. They’re basically on the way out of the Champions League,” Ogden said.

“So, Benjamin Sesko could suddenly become available next week. It’s unlikely, but because Leipzig might need to do some business, the fact that they’re out of the Champions League might make them more vulnerable to a club coming in.

“And you’ve got Feyenoord, who are, I think they’ve got 10 points at the minute. So they’re on the borderline. If they get knocked out, they’ve got Santiago, Jiménez, the Mexican forward who a lot of clubs are looking at.”

Whether or not Arsenal pounce on this opportunity this month remains to be seen, but Arsenal certainly do need a striker before the close of play next Monday.
