However, they could have a new midfield teammate as they have been linked with signing Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi, who is set to join at the Emirates in the summer transfer window.
Arsenal reportedly paid Zubimendi’s £51m release clause earlier in January, and the Spaniard will come in and cement himself in the defensive midfield spot at Arsenal. It likely means that the Gunners aren’t going to sign Thomas Partey to a new contract however, as he is due to become a free agent in the summer.
Arsenal land marquee striker and Bukayo Saka replacement
Wingers - Antoine Semenyo, Gabriel Martinelli
Firstly, the Gunners are struggling for depth in attacking areas at the moment, with Bukayo Saka out until late March at the earliest with a hamstring injury. They have been linked with Bournemouth winger Antoine Semenyo, who could replace Saka whilst he is out injured.
Semenyo is likely to cost the Gunners around £50m should they make a move for him. He’s scored seven goals and contributed three assists for the Cherries this season, helping them to become outsiders for a European football spot.
Gabriel Martinelli will likely keep his place in the starting XI, rotating with the likes of Leandro Trossard and Raheem Sterling. But they could have a new striker.
Regarding a striker, Arsenal made a shock bid for Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins on Wednesday. They offered £60m for the England international, but Villa rejected the approach.
Watkins is a boyhood Arsenal fan, meaning that the Gunners may be able to tempt him to join at the Emirates. However, reports have suggested that a fee has been agreed between Villa and Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr for Jhon Duran. It is unlikely that Unai Emery will want to lose both of his star strikers in the same transfer window by selling Duran and Watkins.
