A 3-1 win over Brentford on Thursday was Arsenal’s third consecutive league triumph. Arteta’s side appear to have finally found some consistency away from the Emirates Stadium.
That will provide plenty of momentum for Arsenal as they head into the second half of the season. Their remaining away schedule is much lighter than the first half of the campaign.
Arsenal will play Liverpool at Anfield and third-placed Nottingham Forest at the City Ground. However, their other trips are against six of the Premier League’s current bottom seven - although that includes a journey to Old Trafford.
Liverpool’s away fixtures are tougher. Arne Slot’s side still have to go to Forest, Chelsea, Manchester City, Bournemouth, Fulham, Aston Villa and Brighton. Brentford, who suffered only their second home defeat of the season against Arsenal, will also welcome Liverpool to the Gtech Community Stadium.
Many of those fixtures will test Liverpool’s resolve. Achieve positive results in the majority of them and they will surely be Premier League champions come the end of the season.
Arteta insists Liverpool remain the favourites to win the title and finally end Manchester City’s four-year dominance. The Spaniard says his players will only think about their next game - which sees them visit Brighton on Saturday.
Speaking to the BBC after Arsenal’s win against Brentford, Arteta said: "It's a big win. They're a really good side, very well coached and they've been exceptional at home.
"Especially when you go a goal down early in the game it becomes a mountain to climb, but the team remained patient. We had to manage the situation emotionally.
"I really like my players and I believe in what we have as there's a lot of quality and commitment. We can only win our next match and see what happens. It's not in our hands, but what is in our hands we need to make sure we do it."
Arsenal were extremely impressive against Brentford. Ethan Nwaneri’s full Premier League debut was a particular highlight, with the 17-year-old filling the shoes of the injured Bukayo Saka on the right wing.
