Arsenal player’s agent ‘out of touch’ with wage demands – Agreement could fall to pieces

A week or so ago, the Brazilian media were sounding very confident about Jorginho leaving Arsenal and signing for Flamengo, with the transfer being presented as something which could happen imminently.

Arsenal were said to be willing to let the midfielder leave for free, ahead of his contract expiring, because they wanted to show gratitude for what he’d given to the club since arriving late in his career.

We explained at the time such a stance from the Brazilian side of a deal appeared to be way too optimistic. Arsenal may be happy they signed Jorginho but they’re surely not going to be benevolent to the point they’d let him go for free halfway through the season.

It would appear a dose of reality has hit the potential transfer.

Sunday’s edition of O Dia reports the Arsenal player’s agent is making demands which are ‘out of touch’ with the reality of Brazilian football.

Flamengo have responded with a counter-offer which they deem to be ‘fairer’.

Reality is also beginning to hit regarding Arsenal’s stance, with it stated the Gunners actually want to keep Jorginho beyond the end of his contract.
