Arsenal transfer news: Benjamin Sesko move takes new twist as Gunners in 'serious talks'

Arsenal are looking to strengthen their squad in the final week of the January transfer window and much of the speculation is concerning their search for a striker, with Benjamin Sesko top of the list.

The Gunners remain in the Premier League title race after battling to a hard-fought 1-0 win over Wolves, despite not having Martin Odegaard, Bukayo Saka or Ben White available.

Mikel Arteta has made it clear he wants to bring in some new faces before the transfer deadline on February 3, with RB Leipzig star Sesko reportedly their top target. But cheaper moves for strikers such as Evan Ferguson or Matheus Cunha cannot be ruled out.
Express Sport takes a look at the latest Arsenal transfer news, rumours and gossip circulating the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal have been boosted by reports that RB Leipzig Benjamin Sesko would be keen to join them this month, according to reports.

The Gunners are scouring the market for attacking reinforcements and Mikel Arteta is keen to sign Sesko, with other targets such as Viktor Gyokeres and Alexander Isak out their price range.

Sesko was subject of interest last year before penning a new contract to stay with Leipzig. However, talkSPORT report the Slovenia international is keen on the move should the Germans decide to sell him. Chelsea and Manchester United have been linked in the past with the £60million-rated frontman, but the Emirates Stadium is his preferred destination.

Arsenal may need to wait until the summer before making their move, though, as Leipzig are adamant the 13-goal striker is staying unless a 'crazy' bid arrives.

Oleksandr Zinchenko is set to leave Arsenal in the January transfer window, with Atletico Madrid and Borussia Dortmund both fighting for his signature.

The Ukrainian has fallen down the pecking order under Arteta this season following the summer signing of Riccardo Calafiori. The 28-year-old, who arrived in a £35m deal from Manchester City in 2022, could now try his luck outside of England after attracting interest from Spain and Germany.

Dortmund want to sign the left-back on loan after missing out on Chelsea's Renato Veiga, but Atletico have jumped ahead of them in the queue as they are prepared to make a permanent offer.

According to Sky Germany, the two clubs have been in 'serious talks' over a loan deal with an obligation to buy, or an outright transfer before the window shuts.

Arsenal face a battle to lock down promising talent Ayden Heaven after several top European clubs, including Barcelona, identified the youngster as a summer target.

The 18-year-old, who linked up with the academy at Hale End in 2019 from West Ham, has featured in several senior squads this season and made his debut in the Carabao Cup over Preston in October.

His progress has not gone unnoticed, with Manchester United said to be taking a close look at the highly-rated centre-back. Mundo Deportivo report Barcelona have joined Eintracht Frankfurt in the race to sign him.

Arsenal have opened talks to convince the starlet to sign a professional contract as his current deal expires in the summer, meaning he could walk away for a nominal fee.
