Mikel Arteta has admitted the Gunners are working hard to take advantage of any opportunities, with the north London side limited due to injuries at the mooment. "My answer doesn’t change," the Spaniard said.
"We are actively looking in the market to improve the squad. We have been since day one. It would be naive not to do that because there is always an opportunity to evolve the team and improve the squad. Especially with the circumstances we have.
The north London side appear to have made some progress in their bid to sign Martin Zubimendi, but he is unlikely to join until the summer. Mirror Football takes a look at the latest transfer news and rumours and the Emirates.
Arsenal blow
Ronald Araujo has delivered Arsenal a blow as the Gunners prepared to make an offer for the Barcelona defender.
After instructing his agents to find an exit route from Camp Nou, Juventus have already seen a bid rejected by Barca. The Italians were said to be considering their options with Arsenal plotting to enter the race. However, Araujo has now been persuaded by sporting director Deco to remain with the Catalan side.

The Uruguay international's contract expires in 2026 but after missing much of this season to a hamstring injury has made just two appearances in 2024/25. Mundo Deportivo report Araujo took a ‘radical turn’ following his outing in the Super Cup win over Real Madrid, with Deco making a breakthrough following talks on Tuesday.
Green light for loan
Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler has suggested he would be happy to see Evan Ferguson leave the club on loan to a Premier League rival this month, providing it is a move than can aid his development.
“We will negotiate what is important for him, what is important for his development, where he can improve the best and then we will make the decision together,” said Hurzeler. “This decision should be what is best for the player and for the club. We sent (Facundo) Buonanotte, for example, to Leicester.
Evan Ferguson could leave Brighton on loan in January
"We know that the Premier League is a very good league to improve, because it’s tough, it’s intense, especially for young players. It’s the perfect environment to adapt. In the end, they want to play for Brighton and we want them to play for Brighton. So, when they improve in the environment of the league where we are also playing, it’s always very helpful."
Arsenal have been linked with a move to Ferguson but hopes of a loan deal are thin as things stands. The Gunners already have two Premier League players on loan in Neto and Raheem Sterling and are not permitted more.
Kieran Tierney to Celtic has been given the status of 'deal on' by transfer guru Fabrizio Romano. The Arsenal defender is within the final six months of his contract and is expected to depart for pastures new in the summer.
The Scotland international is allowed to talk to other clubs with a return to the Bhoys currently looking most likely for next season. After entering negotiations with Celtic earlier this month and nearing a pre-contract agreement, Tierney now appears to have taken the next step.
