There is a lot of work to be done with the current squad – ‘an open heart surgery’ anyone? Not all of them can be done mid-season but even if Man Utd are able to sign one player for a problematic position, it could help them in the long run.
It emerged earlier this month that Ruben Amorim is willing to break the ‘non-aggression pact’ with Sporting CP and find a way to sign striker Viktor Gyokeres this month itself.
At this point, the Swede, who netted the highest number of goals last year, needs no introduction.
ARSENAL PREPARED TO SIGN GYOKERES
Now, as per L’Equipe, Arsenal are ready to pay Viktor Gyokeres’ release clause of around £84.2million to beat Man Utd to his signing. The Gunners have made this decision following the ACL injury that Gabriel Jesus has suffered.
With Jesus now set to be ruled out for the rest of the season, Arsenal’s only striker in the squad who himself is not a proper number nine is Kai Havertz.
Man Utd and Amorim are also interested Gyokeres considering how well Ruben Amorim knows him.
Scoring goals has been the Red Devils’ biggest issue so far this season and neither Rasmus Hojlund nor Joshua Zirkzee have done enough to convince Amorim of some trust for the rest of the season. Thus, the Swede would be a great upgrade.
Gyokeres was easily the best marksman in Europe last calendar year and judging by the way he has started so far in 2025, it looks like he is going to have a season for the record books.
It is only a matter of time before the 26-year-old makes his move to a top club.
It remains to be seen what the future holds for Gyokeres and it remains to be seen if Arsenal find a way to secure his signature ahead of Man Utd this month
