Chelsea in talks for record-breaking Bundesliga forward that Arsenal have discussed

Chelsea, like Arsenal, are in need of a forward to re-energise their aspirations for the 2024/25 season, and the Blues are now in talks with Bayern Munich’s Mathys Tel.

According to the Daily Mail, there are seven clubs in the hunt for the record-breaking (Bundesliga) 19-year-old, who has surprised the Bavarians by noting that he wants to leave the club this month.

Chelsea in pole position for Mathys Tel
Reliable football journalist, Fabrizio Romano, broke the news on X, and though the scramble for his services suggests a deal should be easy to come by, there isn’t long left in the current window to get a move over the line.

Where Chelsea might consider themselves favourites is because Christopher Nkunku is agreeable to a move to Bayern as long as the Bundesliga giants can stump up the £70m transfer fee.

It may well be, given Tel’s latest change of heart, that a deal could be that much easier to construct in the limited time available.

Arsenal could seize the opportunity to sign Mathys Tel, though there would be a cogent argument that it’s a panic buy as he isn’t quite the profile that Arsenal need at this point.

Mathys Tel wanted by several clubs
The Gunners need a ‘killer’ in the box, someone who is a virtual guarantee of goals and who will bully defenders when required.

Tel is a fantastic young talent but arguably would need time to develop in what is a much more aggressive and fast paced league than he’s used to.
