Fabrizio Romano shares the latest on Celtic's Kieran Tierney pursuit as talks accelerate

Celtic’s pursuit of Kieran Tierney has dominated headlines over the last few weeks as the Bhoys look to bring him back to the club from Arsenal.

The Scotland international is set to be a free agent in the summer after the Gunners opted not to activate his one-year extension option at the Emirates Stadium.
According to reports, Celtic have been exploring loan and pre-contract options for Kieran Tierney as they evaluate all potential avenues to bring an icon back to Glasgow’s east end.

Speaking earlier this week, Darrell Currie indicated Tierney would be open to a Celtic comeback. The 27-year-old has long been linked with moving back to his former club, but it has never materialised due despite speculation.

However, the Lennoxtown graduate has never hid his love for the Bhoys and the stars may be closer to aligning after Fabrizio Romano’s latest update on the situation.

He stated: “Negotiations underway for Kieran Tierney to return to Celtic from Arsenal, discussions are taking place. 27 year old fullback keen on the move, talks continue to reach full agreement.”

MORE CELTIC STORIES
The headline is that Tierney is keen on the move back to Parkhead, which could provide a significant boost for Celtic as they work a way round his hefty wage packet.

Previously, suggestions came to light that the Arsenal man would be open to cutting his £120,000 per week salary to move back to his boyhood club. However, it remains to be seen if an agreement can be found.

Celtic have a fighting chance of landing Kieran Tierney
Celtic fans have long prayed for the day that the man in question returns home after his time in London, but it has always felt a little far-fetched due to financial complications.

Despite that, Tierney hasn’t been at the forefront of Arsenal’s plans, barring a solitary start against Crystal Palace, having to settle for a place on the bench under Mikel Arteta.

With his career in need of a kickstart after several injury problems, Celtic appear to be playing their hand to land his signature and stories refuse to die down as the window begins to take shape.

Hopefully, the Hoops can pull of a major coup by bringing Tierney back to the scene of his former glories. Following events at Ibrox yesterday, Romano’s update is very welcome among the support.
