FC Barcelona has readied a $72 million (€70 million) offer to Liverpool for its forward Luis Diaz according to SPORT.
The Catalan newspaper cited a report from an outlet in the player's homeland Colombia, Antena 2, which used anonymous sources.
It is no secret that Barca is after a player that can operate on the left wing.
Raphinha is currently in the form of his life in that area of the pitch, but his natural berth is on the opposite flank.
Thanks to the rise of Lamine Yamal, however, who is the best player in the world at the moment in the eyes of many, the Brazilian has had to adapt in a different role.
Raphinha also naturally drifts into the center as a playmaker, and having another left winger in the squad would allow Flick to give both Lamine and Raphinha a rest when needed as others capable of manning the channels such as Ansu Fati and Ferran Torres are less trusted by the German.
More often than not, Spain international Torres is used as a substitute for center forward Robert Lewandowski, while in the 5-1 Copa del Rey win over Real Betis on Wednesday, Flick opted to bench the Pole and place Dani Olmo as a false number 9 while Torres didn't feature until late on in the last 16 tie.
Back to Diaz, Antena 2 says that Barca has already made its interest in him clear to Liverpool, and will present an "important economic offer" for him when the 2024/2025 season has concluded.
In the meantime, Barca is trying to get Marcus Rashford from Manchester United on loan for the rest of the term yet it needs someone like Fati - who reportedly has Premier League offers - to go through the Montjuic exit door to make the Financial Fair Play (FFP) numbers work after SPORT reported that Flick has given his thumbs up to possibly incorporating the England star.
Barca, which recently returned to the 1:1 rule under FFP limits, is reportedly ready to table a $72 million (€70 million) package to land Diaz, who SPORT says has told his current club of a desire to join Barca.
As he has a contract until mid-2027, it will take a considerable cash offer to convince the English top flight leaders to let Diaz go, however.
