Since joining the club from Benfica in the summer of 2022, the Uruguayan hasn’t produced consistently and is running out of time to prove his worth at Anfield.
While Arne Slot’s arrival was expected to be a spring in his step, it hasn’t quite worked out for Nunez, with the Dutchman preferring Luis Diaz as a number nine in recent weeks.
There have been suggestions that he could be on the move in 2025, with Nunez linked with a move to AC Milan at the start of the January transfer window.
And now, Romano has confirmed that the striker is attracting interest from the Saudi Pro League, although negotiations aren’t at an advanced stage.
“What I can confirm at the moment is only that interest from Saudi in Darwin Nunez is genuine,” said Romano on his YouTube channel.
“There have been conversations to understand the situation of Darwin, the price tag and all these sorts of things.
“For sure there is something in terms of contacts but at the moment there is nothing advanced in terms of negotiations.
“We have to respect Liverpool – Darwin is an important player for them and they spent important money on him. There are still plenty of things to do and at the moment, we are not at that stage.”
Nunez’s stats this season
Nunez has scored just four goals across all competitions for Liverpool this season, which is simply not good enough for a number nine leading the line at Anfield.
Competition Appearances Goals Assists
Premier League 15 2 2
Champions League 3 1 1
Carabao Cup 4 1 0
He wears his heart on his sleeve and is largely a likable character, but in terms of the raw numbers, he hasn’t done enough to warrant a long-term future at the club.
RTK exclusively revealed earlier this month that Nunez accepts his current situation at Liverpool as he continues to play second fiddle to the likes of Diaz and Jota.
However, Liverpool will sell Nunez for the right money in January and with the striker attracting interest from Saudi, his time at Anfield looks like it’s coming to an end.
