Cunha had been earmarked as a potential target for Arsenal after a fine run of goalscoring form at Molineux. The striker has scored 10 goals in 19 league games this term, in a side that are currently 17th in the Premier League table, and Wolves have now made a move to ensure he stays, the Daily Mail reports.
Arsenal are interested in signing versatile cover for Bukayo Saka after his injury and Cunha is likely to be tempted by the interest from north London. Nevertheless, Wolves are said to be negotiating a deal and could include a release clause to ensure Cunha commits his future and does not leave mid-season.
Cunha is on track to have his best ever goalscoring season in the league; previously, his highest goal tally was 12 in 2023-24. He only needs three goals to better that tally this term, and has 19 games in which to do so.
Wolves play Nottingham Forest this weekend but Cunha is banned, after a fracas following their fixture against Ipswich. He will be back for their trip to Newcastle on January 15.
