'I'd be really confident': Alan Shearer shares what signing Arsenal must make to help them win the title this season

Arsenal are still in contention for the Premier League title, although they’ve got a lot of work to do to catch up to leaders Liverpool.

The Gunners are currently second in the Premier League table, six points behind Liverpool but having played a game more than the Reds.

Although Arsenal have only lost two league games this season, they’ve drawn seven, while Liverpool have won all but five of their league matches this term.

Alan Shearer has now shared what he feels the Gunners need to do to make him “really confident” of them winning the title.
Alan Shearer says new striker would help Arsenal win title
Shearer, speaking on The Rest Is Football, reiterated what he said about Arsenal in August, namely that they need a new centre-forward.

The Gunners currently don’t have an out-and-out No. 9, opting not to sign one in the summer, and while they’ve done well, they still lack a cutting edge at times.

This has become more evident now that Bukayo Saka is injured, with Arsenal proving particularly wasteful in the Carabao Cup semi-final first-leg loss to Newcastle.

“I do like (Kai) Havertz, yeah, but I go back to what I said in August, that I still feel as if that’s the one position that Arsenal are missing is a main-centre forward.

“That’s why I said that if they were to get one of those then I would be really confident that would they would win the league.”

Strikers linked with Arsenal
Arsenal have been linked with a multitude of strikers in recent weeks.

Newcastle star Alexander Isak is said to be on the Gunners’ radar, with pundits claiming he’d be perfect for them.

However, selling arguably the most in-form striker in the Premier League to a rival in the same division mid-season is not something the Magpies will be keen on doing.
