The Reds continue to be linked with new signings, both in the January transfer window and in the summer, as Arne Slot looks to add to his squad in the near future.
It would be a surprise if any additions arrived this month, however, with Slot seemingly content with the squad already at his disposal.
Taking to X, Plettenberg claimed that Liverpool have “started talks” with FC Nurnberg over the signing of Tzimas, with the 19-year-old a highly-rated talent who is also wanted by other Premier League clubs:
“FC Liverpool have started talks with 1. FC Nurnberg about a summer transfer for Stefanos Tzimas. There was a phone call a few days ago. LFC have also spoken to the player’s camp.
“The 19 y/o striker is regarded as one of the brightest forward talents in Greece, having scored 8 goals this season for 1. FC Nürnberg. FCN are still planning to activate the €18m buy option with the intention of selling him directly in the summer, as previously revealed.
“FCN have set a price tag of €25m + add-ons. Liverpool, as well as Chelsea, Brighton, Aston Villa, and many Bundesliga clubs, have been informed.”
Our thoughts on Liverpool signing Tzimas…
Tzimas looks like a hot prospect for the future, already scoring eight goals in 15 appearances for Nurnberg, also chipping in with two assists. He is on loan there from PAOK, but they intend sign him permanently at the end of the season, before moving him on immediately.
He has found the net 16 times in 32 caps for Greece across four different age groups, while football talent scout Jacek Kulig has said of him:
“A fantastic start to the new adventure for the 18-year-old striker. Pace, power, finishing & bravery. The future of Greece’s attack looks incredibly bright with talents like Tzimas and Charalampos Kostoulas!”
It is important that Liverpool plan for the long-term in their attack, considering Cody Gakpo and Darwin Nunez are the youngest options there currently at 25.
