Liverpool ready to accept £30m offer for standout star

Real Madrid put £10m on the table for Trent Alexander-Arnold and Liverpool immediately turned it down. That's an interesting one, of course, as Alexander-Arnold can leave for free at the end of the season.

The fact Madrid were even comfortable fronting any money for him suggests they believe he'll move there. This was just about getting it done early.

Liverpool were right to reject it, though - the financial benefits of a sale are massively outweighed by holding onto the player. But Madrid aren't expected to be done. This is a story that will dominate January and potentially the rest of the season.

That's not the only bid rejected, however.

Liverpool reject Ben Doak offer
Crystal Palace put up a £15m bid for Ben Doak on Friday. It's something of a surprise - Doak is currently off on loan at Middlesbrough.

He is thriving there, however, and enough that Palace feel he could already play for them.

Journalist Alan Nixon, writing for his Patreon, has given more information. He claims Liverpool swiftly rejected this offer.

But this is only expected to be Palace's opening bid. They'll try again, having set out their stall for the teenager.

Palace view Doak as a 'priority' signing and want to get this one done. The Scot can fill the void left by Michael Olise in the summer and it appears they're willing to bet big on him.

The Times reports Liverpool are also willing to bet big, though. They believe Doak is worth twice that offer.

In other words, the Reds are ready to accept a £30m offer, should one come in.

Again, though, the report stresses that this is merely an opening offer. It remains to be seen if Palace are willing to match that valuation.

If they are, then Liverpool have a massive decision to make.
