The Magpies will travel to the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday night to take on the Gunners in the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final. Eddie Howe's team beat Brentford in their quarter-final tie last month and will now travel to the capital to face Arsenal.
Isak has been in fine form for Newcastle this season, scoring 14 goals in all competitions, including at least one in each of his last seven Premier League appearances. That form has seen the 25-year-old heavily linked with a move away from St James' Park, with Arsenal one of the clubs apparently interested in signing the striker.
Newcastle go into the clash against Arsenal on the back of a 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League at the weekend. Arteta was asked on Monday about the prospect of facing Isak and an in-form Newcastle in the Carabao Cup.
"Obviously, he is a top player in top form, scoring a lot of goals," Arteta told reporters when asked about Isak, via football.london. "Trying to minimise the strengths of the opposition is a big part of the plan when playing any opponent."
Arteta also provided an injury update on his Arsenal squad, with Ethan Nwaneri expected to be sidelined for several weeks with a muscle injury. Nwaneri scored in the Gunners' 1-1 draw with Brighton at the weekend, but will not be available to face Newcastle.
"Unfortunately, he [Nwaneri] has picked up an injury and is going to be out for a few weeks," Arteta said before adding: "Muscular injury."
"Yeah, he didn't really know," Arteta said. "'I am feeling something, what is it?' He has earned the right to step up and play for us and start some big games and impact those games in the way he has done. Gutted for him."
With Nwaneri sidelined, Arsenal will also be without Ben White, Bukayo Saka, Raheem Sterling and Takehiro Tomiyasu through injury for the clash against Newcastle. Jurrien Timber is expected to return to the squad for the hosts after missing the draw at Brighton through suspension, while Kai Havertz has missed the last two matches due to illness.
