The result means Arne Slot's side are once again six points clear of Arsenal at the top of the Premier League table with a game in hand.
But there was plenty that went unnoticed or under the radar during the 90 minutes at Anfield...
Jota irked
Passions always run high during the clash between English football's two biggest clubs. And Sunday was no different.
Darwin Nunez was a touch fortunate to receive only a booking for a forceful challenge on Matthijs de Ligt while Lisandro Martinez was happy to go around booting just about everyone.
And one flashpoint between Manuel Ugarte and Diogo Jota towards the end of the game saw Mohamed Salah act as peacemaker by dragging the pair apart. Steady on, chaps.
Onana no-no
Salah's nerveless penalty moved him on to 21 goals for the season - 18 in the Premier League - and gave Liverpool brief hope of victory. But United did their best to distract the Egyptian with goalkeeper Andre Onana racing from his line in an attempt to confront the Reds forward.
Cody Gakpo, though, was protecting the ball and then stood in the way of the United man before giving him a shove back towards his goal.
Meanwhile, the Kop had derisory cheers for Bruno Fernandes after an elaborate first-half rabona cross from the United captain was comfortably claimed by Alisson Becker. Sometimes the basics are best.
Trent targeted
Fair to say it wasn't Trent Alexander-Arnold's best performance in a Liverpool shirt. Not least with his less-than-convincing attempts to defend for United's opener.
That earned an audible rebuke from Virgil van Dijk, who made a point of reminding the right-back of his rearguard responsibilities.
And the glare from the Liverpool skipper at Alexander-Arnold after a later mistake suggested the vice-captain may have gone to bed with the Dutchman's words still ringing in his ears.
Snow joke
Those who attended Anfield on Sunday had to endure some extremely soggy conditions with many having sat through the game in the bitter cold with horribly wet feet. Well, at least one journalistic fool did.
And with the snow having been brushed away on to the touchline around the pitch, it made for some comedy moments, the highlight of which saw Kobbie Mainoo sent head over heels into the white stuff when challenging Alexander-Arnold.
