Report: Arsenal now think 'spectacular' striker wants to join them in the coming days

Arsenal are about to enter the final week of the winter transfer window without signing a new striker.

The Gunners are in real need of reinforcements in attack. Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus’ injuries have left them really short of options up top, and that is not ideal at all.

Mikel Arteta has publicly claimed that he wants a new striker this month, but nothing has happened yet in the first 25 days of the window.

There’s some good news coming Arsenal’s way now.

Arsenal think Benjamin Sesko wants to join them but there’s a problem
Benjamin Sesko is one of Arsenal’s top targets.

The RB Leipzig star, hailed as a player with an eye for the ‘spectacular’ by Bundesliga.com, has been on Arteta’s radar for over a year now, and the Gunners boss even tried to sign him in the summer of 2024.

Sesko rejected Arsenal and decided to stay at Leipzig last summer. He even extended his contract there, but he could be on the move soon.

GiveMeSport claim that Arsenal are now ‘confident Sesko wants to join’ them in the final days of the window, but there is a problem.

The report claims that there are doubts over whether the Slovenia international will put pressure on Leipzig to sell him to Arsenal.

It has been claimed that Sesko is ‘not on course to agitate for a move as he has a sense of loyalty to the Bundesliga outfit’.

However, the report adds that ‘Arsenal have been encouraged to up the ante due to Sesko showing a keen interest in heading to the Emirates Stadium’ in this window.

The ‘only way’ Arsenal can find out if they can sign Sesko this month
Sesko being keen on a move to the Emirates is excellent news.

A number of top clubs across Europe are interested in the 21-year-old striker, and the fact that he prefers a move to Arsenal is a big boost.

However, the stumbling block is that Leipzig don’t want to let Sesko go in this window, and they are in a strong negotiating position because the striker’s deal does not expire until 2029.

So, the report claims that the ‘only way’ Arsenal can find out if they can sign Sesko in the coming days is ‘by making an offer which comes close to a price tag surpassing £60 million’.

Whether Arteta’s side will do that in the final week of the window remains to be seen.
