Speaking to The Mail, Kluivert had to compare a number of wingers to one another, picking the player he thinks is the best in each selection.
The Bournemouth star made some controversial and interesting choices in this challenge, including one surrounding a current Arsenal player.
Indeed, Kluivert was hit with a flurry of quickfire questions about Arsenal stars, past and present, claiming that while he thinks Alexis Sanchez is better than Bukayo Saka, there is a winger currently in the Arsenal squad he’d pick ahead of Sanchez.
Justin Kluivert picks Raheem Sterling ahead of Alexis Sanchez
Kluivert made a very interesting choice here when asked to pick between Sterling and Sanchez.
Kluivert actually picked Sterling ahead of Sanchez in this challenge, while he’d previously picked Sanchez ahead of Bukayo Saka.
Kluivert would go on to make a few more interesting claims about some of the Premier League’s biggest names.
Interestingly, Callum Hudson-Odoi also hailed Sterling when taking part in a similar challenge last year.
Sterling has been criticised for his performances this season, but he remains a Premier League legend after his exploits with Manchester City and Liverpool.
Sterling has only scored one goal since joining Arsenal on loan from Chelsea, but his peers clearly rate him very highly.
Sterling stats compared to Alexis Sanchez
It may sound preposterous to say that Sterling is better than Sanchez after watching him this season, but, let’s not forget, this is a Premier League great we’re talking about here.
Sterling’s stats in the Premier League are stellar – he’s a member of the coveted 100 club, but, interestingly, Sanchez does have a better goals to game ratio.
Although, Sterling does have more silverware to his name.
Yes, Sterling has declined since his move to Chelsea and his subsequent switch to Arsenal, but the exact same thing happened with Sanchez when he left Arsenal to join Manchester United back in 2018.
As for which player is better, that is up for debate. Sterling was more successful in terms of winning trophies, but Sanchez had the ability to put an entire team on his back at Arsenal, a skill that Sterling has never really had at any of his clubs.
Kluivert prefers Sterling as a player, but it’s not difficult to make a counter-argument that Sanchez was the better footballer.
