€42m star announces his intention to work under Arne Slot

Liverpool might be top of the Premier League standings, but the story of the season no doubt belongs to Nuno Espirito Santo and Nottingham Forest.

The City Ground side have been nothing short of exceptional with Forest on course for a UEFA Champions League finish having this weekend claimed their biggest Premier League win ever after beating Brighton & Hove Albion 7-0.

As a result of Forest’s form, a number of their big-name performers have been linked with moves to the Premier League’s elite, with Morgan Gibbs-White wanted by Liverpool having established himself as one of the most exciting midfielders in the league.

Yet Liverpool are rumoured with another Forest star, and the player in question could soon be heading to Anfield if the Reds can reach an agreement with Garibaldi heading into today’s transfer deadline day.

Murillo open to Liverpool move after sensational Forest season
According to CaughtOffside, Forest defender Murillo ‘would consider’ a move to Liverpool despite recently signing a new long-term contract with the Nottingham side, with the Brazilian international now committed to the City Ground side until 2029.

As per the report, Forest value the 22-year-old defender at £80m, with Liverpool previously linked with Murillo this transfer window as a potential replacement for Virgil van Dijk, who is yet to sign a new contract with the Anfield side.

Although Steve Nicol has urged Liverpool not to sign Murillo, the South American’s performances this season have shown that the former Corinthians star is a centre-back who could become the next defensive superstar in the Premier League.

And with the defender himself now open to moving to Liverpool, the Reds have to test the waters with Forest with a big at some point today, even if all signs currently point towards the Champions League hopefuls rejecting any and all approaches.

Liverpool have to make Murillo a top target for the summer
With Van Dijk yet to sign a new Liverpool contract, the odds of the Netherlands international leaving Merseyside are slowly going up each day no announcement is made by the club on the defender’s future.

Yet with Murillo expressing some interest in making a move to Liverpool, the Reds have to make the Forest defender one of their top targets for the summer, with the centre-back simply too good an option to pass up on for Arne Slot and his team.

Only 22-years-old and one of the defenders of the season in the Premier League, Murillo could dominate at the highest level for many years to come, and a move to Anfield could be greatly appealing for the Braziling youngster.
