The Gunners are not totally out of the race, but 11 points and a game in-hand behind a seemingly unstoppable Liverpool side could well prove too much of a task to overcome.
This summer will be vital for Arsenal and Mikel Arteta as they look to build a squad that is finally ready to cross the finish line first, with big decisions needing to be made over incomings and outgoings.
The Gunners already know they need more depth at the top end of the pitch having been left short by injuries to Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus. Arteta has only signed two strikers during his time at the club, and that number will need to rise this summer. Meanwhile, a winger signing is also likely, given the absences of Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli, both of which have highlighted the need for quality depth.
In that vein, Arsenal are being linked with Real Madrid winger Arda Guler, who signed for Los Blancos as a prodigy, though he has struggled for regular game time, making only six La Liga appearances so far this season. He has scored three and assisted five in 27 appearances across all competitions up to this point.
CaughtOffside say Arsenal are monitoring the situation in case Real Madrid are willing to offload the now 20-year-old this summer. Guler actually turned 20 on Tuesday. Arsenal previously took advantage of a similar situation when they signed Odegaard on loan from Arsenal initially before landing him on a permanent contract. Like Guler, the Norwegian arrived at Real Madrid as a prodigy but he was not given enough opportunities to show his true potential. Real Madrid signed Guler on a long-term deal, paying £16.5million.
