The German forward will miss the remainder of Arsenal's season after suffering a hamstring injury during the club's warm-weather training camp in Dubai last week. The Gunners are already without striker Gabriel Jesus due to an ACL injury, meaning Mikel Arteta will be forced to reshuffle his forward line.
Raheem Sterling, on loan from Chelsea, is likely to come into Arteta's side in a front-three alongside Leandro Trossard and Ethan Nwaneri. But the English forward has failed to convince since arriving at the Emirates Stadium last summer with just one goal and two assists in 18 appearances.
And Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, has claimed that Arsenal will not bring in a new striker until at least the summer. The Gunners could sign a free agent outside of the transfer window, but it appears that they will stick with their current attacking options for the rest of 2024/25.
"Even after update on Kai Havertz’s injury requiring surgery, Arsenal plan remain the same: find internal solutions and focus on big signing in the summer," he said on X, formerly known as Twitter.
"Important investment planned on striker for the summer window (Å eÅ¡ko and Isak the fav names)… and winger too."
The Gunners saw a £40million bid for Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins rejected late on in the January transfer window. The west Midlands club requested £60m for the England forward, however, football.london understands Arsenal did not see that figure as good value.
Watkins, a known Arsenal supporter, was reportedly keen on a move to the Emirates Stadium if an agreement could be reached with Villa. However, after the Gunners' initial offer was turned down, a potential move seemed increasingly unlikely.
