The Spaniard's resignation in November has left uncertainty over the recruitment drive at the Emirates Stadium. Jason Ayto oversaw the January transfer window but the plan for the summer remains is undecided.
A number of candidates have been linked to the role including former Arsenal star Tomas Rosicky and Real Sociedad director Roberto Olabe. Ayto is another name linked with the role, with football.london understanding he worked on profiles like Martin Zubimendi.
Paris Saint-Germain's Football Advisor Luis Campos is another name linked with a move to London with the Gunners and rivals Chelsea both credited with interest. His contract in France expires at the end of the season and boasts a decent record with transfers.
Campos worked at AS Monaco, bringing in Bernardo Silva and Fabinho to the club before moving to Lille, where he signed Rafael Leao for £5million and sold him for £25m and played a big role in the moves of Nicolas Pepe and Gabriel to Arsenal.
Now, according to reports in France, Campos was spotted in London last weekend. Le10Sport have claimed that the Portuguese was in England on Saturday and sources have confirmed he was in the country.
According to reports, Chelsea have held two meetings with Campos about becoming their head of football across the multi-club portfolio. Campos is also wanted elsewhere with the Saudi Arabia government keen to bring him in ahead of the 2034 World Cup.
"This was an incredibly hard decision to make," Edu said on his decision to leave Arsenal, whom he won the Premier League with in 2004 as part of the Invincibles team. "Arsenal has given me the opportunity to work with so many amazing people and the chance to be a part of something so special in the club’s history.
"It has been a special journey and I thank Stan, Josh, Tim and Lord Harris for the support they’ve given me. "I’ve loved working with so many great colleagues across our men’s, women’s and academy teams, especially Mikel, who has become a great friend.
“Now it is time to pursue a different challenge. "Arsenal will always remain in my heart. I
"I wish the club and its supporters only good things and all the very best.”
