Report: Nottingham Forest plot £8m raid on Arsenal as Edu links bear fruit

Nottingham Forest will be going in search of some players when it comes to the summer transfer window and European football might be on the table as an incentive to any targets.

The next transfer window could be an interesting one. Evangelos Marinakis is going to place Edu in charge of the clubs that he owns and that means he will be doing some work for Forest.

It would be great to think that European action could be on the way to the City Ground and Chris Sutton thinks Forest will make the Champions League this season.

With the season now just 12 games away from finishing, reports are starting to link players with certain clubs, with Forest thought to be in the mix to land a number of newbies ahead of next season.

Nottingham Forest and Brighton want Nuno Tavares
Yes, you read that right, Forest are keen to sign Tavares this summer, with Edu keen to sign the left-back for a second time after taking him to Arsenal from Benfica in the first instance.

Although Steve Cooper snubbed Tavares when he was on loan at Forest, Nuno Espirito Santo did manage to get a little tune out of him and he’s now actually become one of Europe’s top left-backs.

According to Caught Offside, Forest and Brighton are closely watching Tavares, with both clubs sending scouts and representatives to take a closer look at the defender during his loan spell with Lazio.

Tavares has registered a whopping nine assists this season from his position as a left-sided wing-back and it would appear that he’s really kicked on since a drab loan spell with Forest.

FBRef shows that Tavares is fifth in the entire league when it comes to goal and shot-creating actions and quite clearly, he’s enjoying a breakout season with the Serie A outfit.

Forest will go in search of a new left-back this summer
Neco Williams is the man in possession of the shirt right now but essentially, he’s a right-back who is being tasked with doing a job in a position that he’s unnatural in.

Alex Moreno has been linked to Real Betis. He’s only on loan at Forest and at 31-years-old, it looks unlikely that he will get the chance to sign for the Reds on a permanent basis.

There is also Harry Toffolo but he looks to be in the final few months of his time at Forest. The man signed for £2.5 million from Huddersfield will be out of contract in the summer and a departure is surely on the horizon.

That will surely lead Forest to a new left-sided full-back. Whether or not Tavares will be in line for a return remains to be seen but it’s crystal clear that he’s producing the goods in Serie A this season.
