Seven players set to miss Forest vs Arsenal amid Mikel Arteta injury update

Arsenal are dealing with contrasting injury fortunes compared to Nottingham Forest going into their Premier League clash.

The Gunners will travel to the City Ground to take on Forest as they aim to close the gap on leaders Liverpool in the table. Arsenal are 11 points behind the Merseyside club in the current standings and have a game in hand.
Mikel Arteta's side go into the game on the back of a defeat to West Ham at the weekend. The match also saw Myles Lewis-Skelly sent off following a VAR check, and will now serve a one-match ban for denying a goalscoring opportunity.

Lewis-Skelly is one of several players that will be unavailable for Arsenal for the clash against Forest. The Gunners will also have several other stars on the sidelines due to injury.

Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, Gabriel Jesus, Kai Havertz and Takehiro Tomiyasu are all unavailable for the foreseeable for Arsenal. There were worries that Ethan Nwaneri could be a doubt for the Gunners after being substituted in the closing stages of the defeat to Arsenal, but Arteta eased those fears during his latest press conference.

"Yeah, Ethan [Nwaneri], he was just cramping," said Arteta on Tuesday. "Obviously, his load has been very different in recent weeks, but he's fine.

"And Bukayo and Gabi [Martinelli], yeah, they are progressing really well, but they're still a bit far to come back."

For Forest, they have an almost fully-fit squad when they host Arsenal at the City Ground. Back-up goalkeeper Carlos Miguel will be the only absentee for Nuno Espirito Santo's side, with the Forest manager admitting assessments of the fitness of his squad still need to be made before facing the Gunners.

“We have players to assess,” Espirito Santo told Nottinghamshire Live. “We have a couple of knocks to assess. We have to train again so let's wait and see.”
